Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1. Manali – Sethan – Chhikka

    Drive – about 2 hours/ Trek – about 3 hours. Drive from Manali past famed village of Prini from where the winding road leads uphill giving grand views of Kullu valley down below. Sojourn at beautiful tiny hamlet of Sethan (3000 mts) from where you begin today’s walk through verdant forest of Fir & Birch. The thinning forests give way to meadows and enchanting views mountains. After crossing Jobri stream, the gentle uphill walk takes you to Chhikka (3360 mts) known for its wild flowers. O/n camp.

  • Day 2. Chikka – Bhalughera

    Trek – about 4 hours: Today’s moderate uphill trail takes you to confluence of Jobri & Hamta streams under the gaze of towering peaks. This high ground is called Bhalughera (3700 mts), O/n Camp.

  • Day 3. Bhalughera – Hamta Pass – Shiaghoru

    Trek – about 6 hours: The trail is bit steep and narrow and it is a gradual walk uphill & then downhill. After crossing the 4268 mts high Hamta Pass, from where lavish view of lahaul – Spiti peaks can be obtained and presents a striking contrast between verdant kullu valley on one side & dry high cold barren land of Spiti on the other, we descend to Shiaghoru (3500 mts), our today’s campsite. O/n Camp.

  • Day 4. Shiaghoru – Chhatru – Chandratal

    Trek – about 2 hours, Drive – about 3 hours : Trek down to Chhatru (3360 mts) to reach the road head and board the vehicle for onward journey. Beautiful but hardly a road drive along Chadra river which is crossed at Batal (3960 mts). A gradual ascending dirt track leads to this emerald blue breathtaking lake of chandratal (4270 mts). O/n Camp near the lake.

  • Day 5. Return to Manali

    The mountains that fringe this lake are all barren but the shores of the lake display a profusion of flowers in the season. Just walk around in the silence of this beautiful lake and its environs. Board the vehicle to take day long drive to reach Manali by evening.

Last minute tips
  • Take warm winter clothing with you.
  • Ensure you are physically fit to walk at this altitude.
  • Do not bring any expensive or valuable item like a jewelry to program.
  • We hold no responsibility in case of any loss of personnel belongings.
  • People with asthma and other breathing issues should avoid high altitude trekking.
  • Don’t try to be a dare devil while on treks in Himalayas. Mother nature punishes very harshly.
